Revit Live
WHAT IS REVIT LIVE
Revit Live is a cloud service which turns Revit models into immersive experiences in one click, helping architects understand, explore, and share their designs before anything is ever built in the real world. With Revit Live, users can transfer and access valuable BIM data in their model, make adjustments (e.g. change the time of day and see how it affects the sunlight), add animated characters, and connect to virtual reality hardware for an even more immersive experience.
MY CONTRIBUTION
DESKTOP
Along with my only UX colleague, we designed all aspects of the desktop experience. Having joined the team after the first release, my role was mainly to design new features, work on future vision initiatives and modernize the experience
VIRTUAL REALITY
After joining the Revit Live team, I quickly became the only designer assigned to the VR experience of Revit Live. I sketched, designed, tested and overhauled the implementation of several virtual reality features
I have been involved in every single aspect of the desktop experience, from designing the user flows using stickies and low fidelity mockups, to creating flow diagrams to communicate complex behavior, to creating pixel perfect high fidelity mockups, to creating icons, illustrations and completely revisiting the onboarding experience.
FROM DEFINING THE USER WORKFLOWS THROUGH LOW FIDELITY MOCKUPS
TO CREATING THE GREAT WALL OF LIVE
To encourage feedback from the entire team and to ensure greater visibility on the design and future vision for Revit Live, my colleague and I created “The Great Wall of Live”. This physical board, which was located in a high traffic area of the office, displayed printed screens of each of the use cases and workflows that we were planning on supporting for the following release. Every member of our 30+ team was encouraged to review the board at their own convenience and capture comments and questions in the dedicated section. Based on the number of comments that we received, the physical board proved to be much more consulted than its virtual equivalent on Mural.

TO REVISITING THE ONBOARDING EXPERIENCE
Unlike most Autodesk software, Revit Live was designed to be extremely easy to use. However, while the overall UX of the product itself was quite user friendly, its first impression was very dry and technical. In order to minimize the perceived complexity of Revit Live, I suggested to completely revisit the onboarding experience by introducing an illustrated “What’s New” dialog and a new animated splash screen. Over the course of 12 months, I had created a ton of illustrations, which gave Revit Live a more modern and user-friendly look.

``It's hard to find a UX Designer that can strike a good balance between great design and technical constraints, but Emilie can pull it off! I had the pleasure of having Emilie as a UX designer on my team, working on some new and exciting projects within Autodesk, and we had a great time exploring the possibilities of Virtual Reality! She will be a great asset to any team``
``Émilie is a tremendously talented UX designer with whom I had the pleasure to work for the past 18 months. She took on all design challenges with enthusiasm and professionalism including the unchartered field of user interactions in virtual reality. I whole heartedly recommend her for the quality of her work and her dedication to the success of the users and her team.``
