3ds Max Personas
CONTEXT
3ds Max is an incredibly complex tool that serves various industries. When I first joined that team, I was excited to learn more about the personas. However, to my biggest surprise, I realized that nothing of that sort existed; 3ds Max did not have official personas, or at least none backed by actual user research. When I pointed this out to manager, she asked me if I would be interested to work on it myself. Naturally, I accepted the challenge!
INITIAL PLAN
I had a plan in mind – this was going to be easy. My plan was to first, start attending conferences to connect with people and to get a better understanding of the different industries in which 3ds Max is mostly used (architecture, games, films, design visualization). Then, I was going to create a survey and send it to a ton of 3ds Max users. I had read Kim Goodwin’s book and her chapter on persona creation, so I was planning on following her technique to the letter.
